Terms & Conditions

“RNZRSA” means Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association, consisting of affiliated local Returned Services’ Associations.

“The National Bank” means The National Bank, part of ANZ National Bank Limited.

1. The RNZRSA is the promoter of the Competition.

2. The National Bank is the principal sponsor of the Competition.

3. Entry into The National Bank RSA Cyril Bassett VC Speech Competition (the “Competition”) commences on 1 February 2010 at 9am and ends 11.59pm on the 26 February 2010.

4. Entry into the Competition is achieved by completing and submitting the registration of interest form online at www.rsa.org.nz and participating in the regional finals of the Competition. Contact will then be made by the RNZRSA to inform entrants of regional final information. The winner of the regional finals will proceed to the National Final.

5. The decision of the judges at the regional and national competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. The National Final will take place on the 1st April in Wellington 2010 where the National Winner will be announced.

7. To be eligible to enter the Competition you must:

(a) have registered your interest online at www.rsa.org.nz
(b) be a Year 12 or 13 student at a New Zealand Secondary School and have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter;
(c) be a New Zealand citizen residing in New Zealand at the time of entry and during the competition
(d) either hold a current and valid passport or be able to obtain a passport;
(e) be able to travel to Gallipoli on the relevant dates (Monday 19 April – Tuesday 27 April 2010.

8. The following entries shall be deemed invalid:

(a) any entries that infringe the intellectual property right of third parties or that are plagiarised; and
(b) any entries that do not comply with these terms and conditions.

9. The National Winner will travel to Gallipoli to attend this year’s Anzac Commemorations as a guest of the RNZRSA on the official New Zealand delegation. plus receive a digital camera and laptop. The travel package includes flights, transfers, accommodation and meals and NZD$1000 loaded onto a National Bank Travel Card.

10. The National Bank Travel Card can only be issued to persons aged 16 and over. If the National Bank Travel Card is redeemed in New Zealand, currency conversion fees apply. Please see www.mytravelcard.co.nz more details. A copy of the current disclosure statement published by ANZ National Bank Limited is available from any branch of The National Bank, free of charge.

11. Should the National Winner be unable to travel on these dates, the RNZRSA reserves the right to transfer the National Winner’s prize, excluding laptop, digital camera and trophy, to another finalist.

12. The National Winner’s prize is arranged and provided by The RNZRSA

13. The National Winner’s prize is not transferable or exchangeable and except to the extent it comprises a National Bank Travel Card, is not redeemable for cash. If for any reason the prize becomes unavailable, The RNZRSA may substitute an alternative equivalent prize without notice.

14. Neither The National Bank or The RNZRSA shall be liable for any loss, damage, personal injury or death whatsoever (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) which is suffered or sustained arising out of or in connection with the Competition, the taking or using of a prize, or any act or omission (whether negligent or not) of The National Bank or RNZRSA or any of their associated agencies, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

15. Where goods or services are supplied by third parties, neither The National Bank or RNZRSA warrant the quality of those goods and/or services or the suitability for your particular circumstances. To the extent permitted by law, The National Bank and RNZRSA exclude liability for any loss suffered as a result of the use of those goods and/or services.

16. The RNZRSA’s decisions on all matters regarding the Competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

17. By claiming the prize the winner consents to The National Bank and /or RNZRSA making use of their name and/or photograph(s) for publicity purposes as determined by The RNZRSA and /or The National Bank.

18. By entering the Competition you are deemed to accept all these terms and conditions.

19. The RNZRSA reserve the right to extend, cancel or amend the Competition at any time.

20. Prizes will be presented to regional and national winners at the National Final in Wellington on 1 April 2010.

21. The personal information that you provide to enter this Competition will be held by the RNZRSA and will be used for the purposes of administering the Competition. With your prior approval the RNZRSA and / or The National Bank will use your email address to provide you with information about The National Bank RSA Cyril Bassett VC Speech Competition. You have the right to access and request correction of the personal information held about you by contacting enquiries@rnzrsa.org.nz
